VtrendGaming Summer 2021 Plans

Its summertime, which means school’s out hence more gamers are about and eager to play! Summer 2020 was great in terms of tournaments, participation, and the whole experience hence why I am planning to make this summer hopefully just as fun!

Delay of the VtrendGaming 2v2 Invitational and similar events

With the unexpected (but great) turn of events with securing the Challengermode partnership and getting invited to fundraise with HealthyGamer, unfortunately I will have to delay and postpone the Invitational that was announced a few weeks back. I am very sorry for the inconvenience as I wish to re-evaluate the format before rescheduling this event to provide a better experience for the players.

Debut of 5v5 Tournaments

Long have we awaited, 5v5 tournaments will be activated. Although I am experienced in tournament operations, 5v5s is something I have minimal experience in and wish to tread on it carefully.

Here is what is in the works and what could be expected during the summer (tentative and subject to change):

  • Debut process (similar to the steps done for VALORANT and the return of League 1v1s)
    1. Limit the number of teams to 4 and gradually increase the number of allowed teams.
    2. Continue to limit bracket sizes to 4 (group brackets and final stage system).
    3. Gradually transition to the classic single elimination system where all teams are seeded into one bracket.
  • Creating two divisions based on player solo queue rank.
    • Lower Division – Only players that meet the solo queue rank and summoner level requirements will be able to participate in these events. These requirements are in place to help reduce the likelihood of smurfing, cheating, and/or multiple accounts.
    • Open Division – Open to teams and players of ALL ranks and levels. From unranked to Challenger, anyone and everyone is permitted to play in these!
    • Lower Division tournaments may feature slightly smaller prizes compared to Open Division tournaments.

  • Two types of League of Legends 5v5 Tournaments
    • 5v5 Summoner’s Rift – Everyone should know this one. For those inspiring pros to one day compete in high-stakes tournaments to train in a competitive yet fun environment.
    • 5v5 ABAM (All Blind All Mid) on Howling Abyss – For those ARAM enthusiasts, this one is for you! The only difference is – everyone gets to pick their champions! There are no bans, no restrictions. Construct your OP ARAM team and see how it performs against others.

What about Valorant 5v5s?

I would like to evaluate and research further into the VALORANT scene before debuting 5v5s for the game title.

More tournaments hosted on Challengermode with the possibility of cash prizing

As some may have heard, I have partnered up with the Challengermode tournament platform to help expand their presence in the North America region after their huge success in Europe. Yes, this means EU tournaments are possibly coming to VtrendGaming.

In addition to League of Legends and VALORANT, Challengermode has support for other titles such as Wild Rift and TFT. Expect the possibility of VtrendGaming TFT and Wild Rift tournaments soon!

On May 15th, VtrendGaming has met the first application requirement for receiving cash sponsorship from Challengermode of hosting a successful tournament on their platform (thanks League of Legends 1v1ers!). As a result, I have started the application process. In the meantime, I will be hosting more tournaments on Challengermode to help players interested in cash prizes get up to speed on how to use the platform. Stay tuned for updates!
